To answer this question, we must first know whether people want to live in a mixed neighbour. The answer will vary from person to person, making this subject very fragile. However, there might be some who believe that having mixed residential areas would result in a less discriminating society. So, let us assume that we have equal number of opinions for and against. What should we do to settle this once and for all ?
In my view, a mixed neighbourhood can exist perfectly well on our society. As long as the educational system becomes better than today, we should be able to have a pacific mixed city , where rich and poor people would live together. I know it may look like a crazy idea, but it is not. According to scientist, living in a “Utopia” may be possible in a near future.
Admittedly, there are examples of mixed neighbourhood which works way better than expected. But the same can be said for areas where wealthy and underpriviledged people are separated from each other. Yet people still see this as an terrible idea. I think this is simply because people are afraid of a social “mixture”.
Although we have to respect people’s feelings as fellow members of the city, I believe that it is a possible solution for social prejudice, but it’s our government’s duty to make everything works fine.
