Should we create more socially mixed residential areas, where rich people live next to poorer people, instead of in separate communities?


First and foremost, in order to answer this question, we must think why this action should be made and how it could bring benefits. I believe the main reasons to reflect about mix residential areas is to give more opportunities to underprivileged people and the second is to promote a relationship with people from different walks of life. So, let ustake these two points to analyze the importance of creating socially mixed residential areas.

Admittedly, nowadays, residential areas are predominantly segregated, there is always a barrier between rich and poor people, which causes an impact in the society. For example, rich children grow up surrounded by the same reality in school and in their neighborhood. Due to it, these children do not have the opportunity to see and live with different people, consequently, it creates a huge distance between them. Getting together people from all walks of life would approach them and decrease the segregation that exists today. However, in my view, the implementation of these areas would cost a lot of money and this amount could be used to other investments to poorer people which would be much more effectively useful, such as building more schools and enhancing the quality of the ones which already exist.

In conclusion, I think we must make the decision that is more beneficial to disadvantaged people and, as a result, being beneficial for all the society. In addition to that, it is important to improve the infrastructure of the poor areas, as it is already done in the rich ones.  Creating solutions, without changing their life completely and spending a lot of money, is the best way to get together all the society.

    I agree with your point of view. This worry of having mixed residential areas is silly if you meditate about the reasons this segregation exists. Living in a poor neighborhood does not make you poor. Fist we have to identify the reasons why people in a determined area are poor. Most of the time it is the lack of education and the lack of opportunities in the work market. So, I agree with how you ended your essay: "it is important to improve the infrastructure of the poor areas, as it is already done in the rich ones", this way we would not have a "mixed residential area", but a more equal society in general.

First of all, we must first examine whether the people will accept this suggestion, pros and cons is a good way to start. To make that we can ask some questions for ourselves, such as, will they feel comfortable to stay next to each other? Will the crime rate increase? Will they adapt to this new system? These are some questions that we have to answer first, before making bad decisions. In my opinion, people from different social classes can live together in perfect harmony between them. However, before that, they should lay down some rules, just to have peace and quiet. So let us assume that you are the poor person, would you like to be treated like the rich people treat the poor people in this day and age? Would you like to get a chance? First of all, it would depend on region and country you wanted  to create more socially mixed residential areas, due to background culture and education of each region or country, however it would be  extremelly important that the people that  live in mixed communities,  they must to have maturity and respect each other to live together. I believe that this project would be perfect to define the elevated pattern of education, cultural diversity  and growth of society.
